Jessica Simpson was devastated when she saw ex-husband Nick Lachey out on the town with another woman so soon after the couple split.

The pair separated in November 2005 and Lachey was photographed soon after with Laguna Beach star Kristin Cavallari.

Simpson tells Elle magazine, “Oh, it hurt me. Two or three weeks later? Yeah, I’d say it kind of hurt me.”

The 26-year-old claims she’s still in touch with Lachey explaining, “He’s so much a part of my life, how could I not be? Any guy who’s going to be with me from this day forward has to understand that.”

Simpson says she learned a valuable lesson about revealing too much of her private life from starring in the MTV reality series Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica. She adds “I let people in on who I am and how I react to my husband. That’s a big deal. Celebrities don’t do that.

“So I think they (the media) brought me down just because I stopped talking and because I have not spoken and will not speak about my divorce. And I think people feel like I owe them my reality right now.”

Jessica Simpson and John Mayer have been spotted just about everywhere in Florida. They have been snapped eating lunch, getting on the Mayer tour bus and at various other activities.

According to reports, Jessica Simpson spent the rest of the evening pouting as Mayer’s attention was paid almost exclusively to gossip blogger and self appointed “Queen Of All Media,” Perez Hilton at the Comedy Cellar.

The New York Daily News reports that John Mayer deemed Perez “not evil” in a 4:24 a.m. post on his blog, but later deleted it. Simpson incessantly pulled at her date’s pants and hands all evening until he appeased her with a long kiss.

Jessica Simpson and shaggy-haired crooner John Mayer were spotted making sweet music together at the jewelry counter at Barneys on Madison Avenue.

Simpson was spied eyeing baubles then shrieking in excitement and high-fiving Mayer as he purchased the gift Saturday morning.

The two giggled and danced in front of a glass display case, while Mayer clad in an army jacket and jeans laughed and affectionately held Simpson’s hands in his own.

Simpson, wearing a cream turtleneck sweater and long platinum hair extensions, was gazing into Mayer’s eyes and smiling.
“They looked very happy together,” said a source who spotted them inside. “They were having fun and joking around.”

Although Jess and John continue to deny they’re an item, this is the third time in recent weeks they have been caught together. Also a very covered up Jessica arrived around 2am with John to Heineken-sponsored party at the Hudson Hotel.

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey have resolved the splitting of their assets, according to legal documents obtained by PEOPLE.

It officially brings their divorce to a complete close; they were legally free to marry others in June. Details of the settlement were not disclosed.

Simpson and Lachey were married in 2002 and starred together in the MTV reality series Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica. They split in November 2005; Simpson filed for divorce that December.

Jessica, who decamped to her own Beverly Hills mansion, has kept busy with music and movie work. She has spent the past few months shooting her latest film, Blonde Ambition, in Shreveport, La.

Nick, who is scheduled to host a party at Pure Nightclub in Las Vegas on Saturday night, spent his time since the split renovating a Bel Air bachelor pad and amping up his music career with the gold-selling album What’s Left of Me and a nationwide tour.

He’s also found love again with MTV’s TRL host Vanessa Minnillo whom he’s been dating for eight months.
