Ashlee Simpson has lost her dream job as Meryl Streep’s on-screen daughter because of her hectic recording schedule.

The singer was hoping to land a part opposite Streep in the movie adaptation of hit Abba musical Mamma Mia!, but had to abandon plans because she is “too busy”.

A representative for Simpson tells In Touch magazine, “She was interested in the role, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out because she’s putting out an album.”

Scarlett Johansson has reportedly shot down reports that she is dating pop star Justin Timberlake.

The Lost in Translation actress has been linked with the singer after she appeared in the video for his new single “What Goes Around… Comes Around,” but she insists the pair are just good friends.

She says, “We have a lot of friends in common, and Justin’s a sweetheart, and it’s always good to see him but there’s a lot of speculation and I try not to read that stuff. I think when two people are single and are seen together, it’s immediately like a crazy feeding frenzy.”

Troubled star Lindsay Lohan is “amazing”, “great” and “happy” four weeks into her stint in a Los Angeles rehab, according to her mother Dina.

Lohan checked into the Wonderland Center on January 18 in a bid to “take care of my personal health”.

Dina says it’s having a positive affect on the actress. She tells People magazine, “She’s amazing. She’s great and she’s happy. She’s in a really good space right now.”

“American Pie” actress Tara Reid is furious with “Girls Gone Wild” creator Joe Francis for saying she was terrible in bed on shock jock Howard Stern’s radio show.

Francis bragged about sleeping with several celebrities on the show, including Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Rod Stewart’s daughter Kimberly. He said Hilton was the best, Stewart was “awesome” but rated Reid “worst of all.”

Reid ran into Francis at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party in Los Angeles Saturday night and refused to speak to her one-time friend. According to Page Six, Francis screamed, “Hey, Tara! Hey! Over here! Hi!”

A furious Reid reportedly turned around and replied “Get away from me! Never talk to me again!”

The actress is desperately trying to clean up her party girl image, while Francis recently appeared in intimate video footage found in a Hilton’s storage locker and later posted on ParisExposed.com.

Anna Nicole Smith died today after collapsing at the Seminole Hard Rock Cafe Hotel and Casino in south Florida. She was rushed to a hospital but never regained consciousness. It is reported she complained of a fever last night but no further details are known at this time.
